The Musicological Society of FBiH and the Music Academy of the University of Sarajevo announce a call for papers for the 13th International Symposium “Music in Society.” The symposium traditionally gathers musicologists, ethnomusicologists, theorists, music educators, and experts from related fields to explore current issues in music and musicology. The general theme “Music in Society” signifies an interest in understanding the multidimensional, diversified, and transdisciplinary discourse of contemporary music science, providing a platform for the exchange of results from recent research.

The symposium languages are Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian and English. The symposium is of a hybrid nature – some sessions will be organized in person, and others will be conducted via video conference on the Zoom platform.

The registration fee is 50 € or 100 KM (30 € or 60 KM for members of the Musicological Society of FBiH) and includes the program booklet and other working materials, as well as a joint lunch/dinner for symposium participants.

Organizers do not cover the travel and accommodation expenses of participants.

Peer-reviewed papers will be published in the Proceedings of the 13th International Symposium “Music in Society” in 2024 (English or B/H/S version), which is indexed in the RILM and EBSCO databases.
