About Symposium

The Musicological Society of FBiH and the Music Academy of the University of Sarajevo have jointly organized the International Symposium “Music in Society” since 1998. The symposium traditionally gathers musicologists, ethnomusicologists, theorists, music educators, and experts from related fields to explore current issues in music and musicology. The overarching theme “Music in Society” signifies an interest in gaining insights into the multidimensional, diversified, and transdisciplinary discourse of contemporary music science, providing a platform for the exchange of results from recent research.

The languages of the symposium are Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian and English.

Peer-reviewed papers from the symposium are published in the Proceedings “Music in Society,” which is indexed in the RILM and EBSCO databases (ISSN: 2303-5722 (Print), ISSN: 2744-1261 (Online)).
